  The 14th amendment(US) was made after the civil war and had the freed slaves primarily in mind.

  Equal protection afforded by the law for all citizens impartially:

  The Equal Protection Clause is part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The clause, which took effect in 1868, provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction "the equal protection of the laws".

  I would think that making the disfellowshipping elders the primary target of a slander lawsuit, might work. Their kangaroo style secret court could be highlighted as extremely cruel and a total mockery of justice that lead to your name being announced as a member who must be shunned by all Jehovah's world wide as a serious evil doer.   I think you may be on to something Steph. There got to be a way to get around this freedom of religion thing and hold these guy accountable some way.

  The way I look at it give protection for a religion to teach and believe what ever they want but if they teach murder is ok, then hold them accountable for abusing their religious privileges of freedom, when they cause harm to the tax paying citizens, such as the secret kangaroo court system called a judicial committee where a member is humiliated when they reject Organizational teaching which are clearly based on the mental illness of, delusional thinking, and a god complex, not to mention a vindictive spirit towards anybody that points out any errors they may have in the teaching and delusions with immediate disfellowshipping no questions asked..

  I think society in general is evolving greater sensitivity to these issues and now may be the time for something like this to work.

  With all the psychological stuff that is known about how cult operate and how they abuse people I think it should get easier and easier to make a case against the Watchtower Corporation's unfair practices to keep it's members captive to their thought control.

  In my case about 18 years ago 2001 I was summoned to a committee meeting at my place of business, I went to the regular meetings a few day before and they wanted to meet with me in the backroom to which I refused and said what ever you wish to talk to me about talk to me right here in front of your members to which ended the conversation that day and led them to come to my place of work.

  During that meeting at my place of self employment they simply invited me to attend a judicial meeting to which I asked them "what is the charge"? They said : "Speaking Against The Organization". As A former elder I never heard of such a charge and so asked them to put the summons in writing to which they refused so I then took out a piece of paper and wrote the charge of speaking against the Watchtower Organization and dated it and asked them to sign it,, which they of course refused. I then said I would like to bring my lawyer to this meeting, and they refused that request as well.

  When I went to their secret kangaroo court I was asked if I had any recording device,, as these were not allowed in this behind closed doors meeting. I made some snide remark about it being a kangaroo secret trial and was told the the privacy request was for my protection/privacy benefits and not theirs.

  Any way as with any kangaroo court the cards were stacked against me.

  Surely I'm thinking that such proceedings must violate some laws in the US because of it whole phony nature.

  Can the fact that they call these "Judicial" meeting lead to lawsuits over the way they carry out their unfair "judical' practices?

  It's kind of nice to have you on this thread, I take no offence if you shoot down any idea or angle of getting them to court I have,, in fact you save me a lot of time, so thank you.

  So who will have the first idea that JC3something can't shoot down and that's what I'm hoping for, call it wishful thinking which it is, but who knows? And don't forget wishful thinking has its honeymoon stage,,, before reality sets in and the whole thing comes to a screeching halt. Hey any of you out of the box thinkers willing to put it to the test before JC, and get him to I don't know, stop his nay saying?

  Dilemma of Shunning Policy

  apologies if this topic has been discussed earlier.. i was thinking of whether demanding for a ban on shunning policy would be beneficial for the larger society.

  following are some things that we need to remember while advocating the issue:.

  1. shunning is not limited to jw's and for many americans, it is not that controversial as it seems.. 2. jw shunning is not a dark secret policy.

  I enjoy these kind of think tanks. Everybody playing all nice and stuff, and so far very few ruffled feathers.

  So what type of human right violation in your country could work against a totalitarian mind control cult that masquerades as a religion,, who's primary weapon is "Disfellowshipping" members to keep them under control/ unified thoughts full of religious delusional bullshit, with the main directive: to Listen Obey and be Blessed/cursed a blatant in your face corporate theme song if ever there was one. I do think the Watchtower printing establishment day are number for hiding behind being a religion are numbered as the laws improve.

  I really do think we will see the legal system eradicating these old cults one building sale after another to pay off all the laws they violate because they are so in denial of their own flaws and fuck up in more ways than you can imagine.

  Human rights violations might be a avenue that needs to be explored? Positive negativity will stop thinking, and give up the search.

  I'm no legal eagle so I don't know all the laws that apply in my own country, so I can't intelligently comment so I will rely on JC323 critique for any flaws in my comments. I'm sure there is a way, the thing is can somebody find it. This just might be a job for AI.

  How about freedom of speech, freedom to contradict or believed differently than the Corporation's ever changing self serving publish currant teachings? That would make for a nice public trial or something.
